Tuesday will be a decent weather day, with high temperatures in the upper 80s, as we continue a daily chance of a thunderstorm.

I hope your air conditioner is ready for another workout! Our weather pattern is pointing toward hotter and more humid weather building into the Garden State through the rest of the week. And maybe through the weekend too. It is totally possible that somewhere in New Jersey hits 90+ degrees for each of the next 7+ days.

On the whole, Tuesday looks like another "fairly typical" mid-summer day. Morning temperatures are mostly in the lower 70s. Skies will probably be a bit brighter than Monday, ranging between partly sunny and mostly sunny. High temperatures will be a couple degrees warmer, averaging in the upper 80s. Beach temps will be a bit cooler, closer to 80 degrees. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of 90+ degree temperatures to the south and west by Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday's forecast also has to include a slight chance for a popup thunderstorm for Tuesday late afternoon to Tuesday evening. I stress the word "slight" — New Jersey will see one or two very isolated storm cells, if anything at all. But those cells could dump a lot of rain in a short period of time. Again, keep in mind — the vast majority of the state will stay dry and storm-free again.

As humidity continues to slowly increase, Tuesday night is going to be pretty muggy and uncomfortable. Most of the Garden State will only bottom out in the lower 70s, under partly cloudy skies.

Wednesday gets even hotter, with 90 degrees possible for inland central and southern New Jersey. Sunshine should win the sky, with a stray storm possible in the afternoon and evening hours.

By Thursday, the heat and especially humidity will be quite insufferable again, with most high temperatures in the lower 90s (perhaps even at the beaches).

A weak front will push across New Jersey late Thursday. No rain is expected, and don't expect a cooldown. The only impact — and it's still good news — will be the arrival of drier air.

Drier air means lower humidity for Friday — but thermometers will remain quite hot. High temperatures will peak in the lower to mid 90s to close out the workweek, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and a stiff westerly breeze.

I still can't go into much detail about the weekend. My main hesitation is Saturday's forecast, which in the last day has gone from "comfortable" to "blazing hot". Sunday looks quite steamy too, with widespread 90s on the table. There will probably be rain for one or both days of the weekend too — the current outlook calls for showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Let's give it another day or two to firm up these details. Overall, I don't like the oppressive numbers I'm seeing — air conditioning and swimming pools may stay very busy for the foreseeable future.
