NJ Gov. Murphy announced this week that the reopening of state amusement parks could begin at 50% capacity as of July 2.

Storybook Land, a local fixture entering their 65th year, celebrated the announcement posting on Facebook, "The wait is over! No more empty rides!

Now, Storybook Land has to see what the safety guidance will be for reopening from the governor's office and determine what they will have to do to follow them.

As the story goes on Storybook Land, John and Esther Fricano, frustrated with the choice of options for fun for young children, opened Storybook Land in 1955 with their vision of entertaining children with storybook characters and rides.

Fricano purchased five wooded acres and cleared much of the land by hand. He also created all the early attractions, while his wife decorated them. It started as a fairy-tale themed playground, and slowly grew into a tale of attractions and rides.

Today, the next generation of Fricano's still run Storybook Land as a family business with over 15 rides on 20 acres on the Black Horse Pike.
