Stone Harbor Has Been Named Healthiest Town in New Jersey in 2016

The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute has named Stone Harbor as New Jersey's Healthy Town for 2016.

Cape May County Herald reports, the win is part of the Mayors Wellness Campaign, which seeks for New Jersey leaders to prioritize health and wellness within their communities. The program is part of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute (NJHCQI) in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities.

Through this campaign, the hope is to promote wellness and reduce the cost of health care. Since its founding in 2006, two-thirds of New Jersey's municipalities have joined the effort.

Stone Harbor has met all requirements through its programs like weekly walks, free fitness passes, and healthy restaurants in the community. The Shore town also provides health education, free screenings and holistic methods.

Mayor Judy Davies-Dunhour and Borough Council will be presented with an award on Feb. 21, 2017.
