Spending the Afternoon with Miss New Jersey and Miss America 2017

Miss America Pageant week is on! The arrival ceremony was held today live on the world famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. What a way to spend a gorgeous sunny afternoon.  
The 2018 Miss America contestants made their debut at Kennedy Plaza. All 52 contestants were introduced to the crowd during the Parade of States. Of course, as usual, Miss New Jersey got the biggest hand of the afternoon.

I had the chance to to chat again with Savvy Shields, Miss America 2017, Miss New Jersey 2017, Kaitlyn Schoeffel of Egg Harbor Township, Miss Delaware, Chelsea Bruce and Miss Pennsylvania, Katie Scheckengast.

It was also fun to talk to the reigning Miss America who has raised over $16 Million dollars for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It's been a whirlwind year for Savvy Shields, who has lived out of a suitcase since being crowned. She was touched by meeting so many special children during the past year of her crown.

Good luck to all of the contestants participating in the 2018 Miss America competition live from Boardwalk Hall and live on ABC-TV on Sunday night, September 10th, starting at 9 PM. The preliminary competition takes place on September 6-8, and the “Show Us Your Shoes” Parade happens on September 9th on the AC Boardwalk.

All of these amazing young women have worked extremely hard to get to the next level and proudly represent their respective states. Of course, I am partial to Miss New Jersey becoming Miss America 2018, but good luck to all!
