Three Jersey Shore beacons will light up in recognition of National Lighthouse Day this coming Monday, August 7th.

An act was approved by congress on August 7, 1789 to establish the supports of lighthouse, buoys and beacons, according to National Day Calendar.

The first National Lighthouse Day took place in 1989, in recognition of the beacon of light that boats at sea look for for safety and security.

Three beacons at three local lighthouses will join in the celebration of this special day. You'll find special activities including arts, music, crafts, wine tasting and fun for kids at The Cape May Lighthouse, Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in North Wildwood, Cape May County and Absecon Light House in Atlantic County, according to Shore News Today.

I've spent time at all three lighthouses! My wife and I really enjoyed spending the afternoon at the Cape May Lighthouse on one of our staycations.
