Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.
This week we met Simon the cat....

Here is some information on Simon from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Simon is a large gray and black tiger striped domestic short haired cat with beautiful green eyes. He is approximately 7-8 years old.

When Simons elderly owner suddenly passed away, a social worker familiar with the situation tried to rehome him. Simons owner had no family and made no provisions for him should an event like this occur. The social worker knew that Simon was very spoiled and had been doted on day and night. She didn't want to bring him to a shelter. So, she gave him to a family member. A month later, Simon was surrendered to the HSOC due to his new owners severe allergies. Once again, Simon found himself homeless.

Simon is a friendly, affectionate and attentive cat that seems as though he would do well in most households. He adjusted quickly to the shelter which is a good sign that he will easily acclimate into a new home. A low to moderately active home would be best. To our knowledge, he's never been with children so kids 12 and up may be best. Although he was never with other pets in his prior home, we believe he would be fine with other cats and would eventually adjust to feline friendly dogs.

If you come visit Simon, he will stare at you with those brilliant green eyes, then roll over to offer you his chubby belly. Shelter staff doesn't have to say much to sell Simon, his personality sells himself. Are you able to give Simon his forever home? He eagerly awaits your visit."
