Saying they're part of, "New Jersey culture and lure," Gov. Murphy has announced indoor shopping malls across the state can reopen Monday, June 29th.

In his daily COVID-19 briefing Thursday afternoon, Murphy said malls can reopen if all shoppers wear a mask, all stores will be limited to 50% capacity, and restaurants may provide take-out or outdoor dining but food court seating and common seating areas remain closed.

According to NJ.com, mall operators will be asked to establish plans for proper foot traffic flow so congested areas don't form along with establishing entrance-only and exit-only doors, if possible.

Murphy went on to say, "Malls are part of New Jersey culture and lure. We want these businesses to get back up and running responsibly and safely. If you head out to the mall, please comply with the requirements in place."

Shopping malls have been closed since March 17th due to COVID-19. On June 15th, Gov. Murphy allowed non-essential retail stores, but not malls, to reopen.
