Memorial Day Weekend signifies the official kick off of the Summer season which means South Jersey is probably going to be BEYOND CROWDED.

That means the beaches, the restaurants, and bars will all be full of people requiring service and as someone who is a former server, here a few things you should keep in mind.

Please oh please don't be that guy.

Don't Move Tables Yourselves

Let any hostesses or staff move tables if you have a large group looking to sit down. The tables are sectioned off to different servers and when you rearrange them, you are messing with people's sections and therefore their money.

Tipping

This is a BIG ONE. Servers live on tips. Bartenders live on tips. Don't go out if you can't afford or simply don't want to tip. You are basically walking out on paying part of the tab.

Patience

This weekend is going to be the first majorly busy weekend of the season and there are sure to be servers that are new or need a refresher course before getting back into the swing of things. We have all had that Summer job that was just there to get us through. Don't make theirs any more difficult than it already is.

Don't Do The "Excuse Me!"

You know what I'm talking about. You forgot your servers name but you need another water so you wave your hand at them while loudly yelling "excuse me!" until they come  back over. Just. Don't. Do. It.

Eat Menu As Is

Listen, I get it. If you want no onions or a simple modification that is totally understandable. But when you come in and basically create your own dish you are creating hell for everyone involved. Just imagine typing in the most complicated order with three other tables waiting. If you are that picky or have that strict of dietary restrictions, maybe do your research prior so you know there are things that you are able to eat.

No One Likes Campers

Don't order a water and a sandwich and then sit for hours. You are taking up a table that other people could have used and servers are relying on high turnover during a busy weekend like MDW. Just be self aware.

Clean Up After Your Kids

There is going to be some type of mess left from eating and there is no way to avoid it. What is avoidable is allowing your kids to throw French fries all over the floor and ketchup all over the table. And if you don't clean it up, you better add some money to that tip because of the extra time it takes for that table to be prepared for new customers.

Time Is Money

Don't call the server over saying that you are ready to order just to stare at the menu for another five minutes. If you need more time, simply just say so because while you are deciding, they could be getting 1235635 things done.

Attention Servers: did I miss anything that you want everyone in South Jersey to be aware of because now is your chance!?
