Sea Isle Mayor Lenny Desiderio posted a message on the city website Wednesday concerning the traditional Christmas kickoff events that are normally held during Thanksgiving weekend.

Desiderio said after talking it over with the town Chamber of  Commerce, they decided to cancel the Sea Isle Christmas Extravaganza.

We’ve considered the magnitude of people that show up at this event, and believe it’s in everyone’s best interests not to hold this. We’ve discussed this with the Chamber of Commerce, and they’re in agreement.

There is better news for the other two Thanksgiving weekend Christmas attractions in Sea Isle. The Christmas Parade, from 29th to 93rd Street, of course with Santa Claus, will be held the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 27, at 7:00 pm.

And, the big guy himself, Santa Claus has confirmed his appearance at this year's Sea Isle City Christmas Parade! Will he be a socially-distant Santa this year?

By the way, Halloween Trick-or-treating will be held Saturday, Oct 31 from 4pm until 7pm, but the Sea Isle City Truck or Treat event has been canceled.

Local homes and businesses that plan to distribute candy to trick-or-treaters on October 31 are invited to place their addresses on the City’s “Trick-or-Treat Route” so families will know which properties will be giving-out candy. To place your address on the Trick-or-Treat Route, phone 609-263-0050 prior to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30.
