We all know the adage, "boys will be boys". What is left unsaid in that saying is that, sometimes, those boys do really stupid stuff.

This time the boys involved did something really stupid to a nest of one of the state's most loved shore birds, and they did it while on video. Now, the Department of  Department of Environmental Protection is conducting an investigation to find them.

Six teen or pre-teen boys disturbed an osprey nest Saturday, April 29, at the East Point Lighthouse in the Heislerville section of Maurice River Township, along the Delaware Bay in Cumberland County.

The  group Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs has installed an osprey platform out in the marsh with a camera that streams live video, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Accrdoing to the Hooks on Fishing Facebook page, the group of boys drove up Saturday in an F-150 Ford pickup and broke several laws while throwing trash in to the osprey nest, before tipping a port-a-potty over in the marsh land.

The Facebook post for Hooked on Fishing points out that ...

"This is not “Simply kids being kids”. They are vandalizing property and endangering wildlife with their actions."

An investigation is open, and anyone with info is asked to call the DEP Tip line at 1-877- WARN-DEP. You can remain completely anonymous.
