Rare Christmas Star Will Light Up The Sky This Christmas

Here's something to look forward to kick off the 2020 winter season. A rare Christmas star will light up the sky for the first time in over 800 years.

If you missed this with this once-in-a-lifetime holiday last night, you may be able to see it again tonight when skies will be clear according to NJ.com.

According to website the Morning Call, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible and appear to come together to form a ultra rare Christmas Star that will look like a huge and shinning  star for the holidays. The last time this planet alignment was visible was July in the year 1223.

The best time to see Jupiter and Saturn align was Monday night December 21st, which also happens to be the first day of the 2020 winter solstice. You may be able to see the planets align close together tonight on December, 22nd. If you miss the so called Christmas star, you'll have to wait for the year 2080 to see Jupiter and Saturn so close together again.

According to the website Earth Sky, the best way to sky gaze is to is to find a dark spot, find out when peak time will be, make sure you have the right day, know the phases of the moon, dress warmly, bring a thermos of hot chocolate, coffee or tea, bring a comfortable chair or blanket and enjoy the night sky!
