On Monday, Grand Marshal Michael J. Bradley Jr. assured everyone that the Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade would go on as planned.

On Tuesday, health officials announced Philly's first patient to test positive for COVID-19.

On Wednesday, the parade was canceled.

Health officials suggest staying away from large events, gatherings with crowds numbering in the thousands. Things like parades, concerts, and sporting events increase the risk of transferring any disease, especially one that has a higher rate of being contagious like COVID-19.

I know most of us are tired of hearing this, but it's something we all still need to be aware of. Take precautions, wash your hands, cover your sneezes and coughs, and don't spread disease.
