Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Cookie” the dog.

Here’s a little background info on Cookie from the Humane Society of Ocean City…

Cookie is a one-year old, black and tan coated Chihuahua.

"I was brought to the H.S.O.C. by my former owner, when she could no longer care for both my mommy and me!

My mother "Chata" and I are going to go our separate ways when we get adopted. The problem is that my mom takes protecting my little self very seriously. She doesn't take a break from it! It makes me kind of nervous as a result. We are both much more relaxed when we are not together. So, yes, I have begun to embrace my newly found independence!

As far as my requirements for a fabulous forever home, it should be one that is first off loving, and so, so caring for sure! I am kind of a shy dog, so a calm household without young children would probably make me shine brightest. However, I have had great experiences around gentle people of any age and size, dogs of course, and even around kitty cats! Amongst my many canine talents,

I respond to Spanish spoken commands, and my former owner said that I really love to graze on fruits and veggies as a treat! I know, cute and health conscious! Sound too good to be true? Well, I am for real! Dolly sized but, a real live "fur-baby"! If you think that adopting me is just what you need, stop by very soon to meet me! Children like me are not known to be looking for their forever homes for too, too long for sure!"
