Recent lane closures on the GSP have definitely made things more challenging for your morning and afternoon commutes.

According to the Shore News Today, the lane closure which affects the northbound lane on the Garden State Parkway near the Great Egg Harbor Bridge, will be a part of your daily commute until around October 20th.

The northbound lane is shifted into one lane only right before the bridge. This caused backups for miles over this past weekend, especially with the summer-like weather still with us.

According to Thomas Feeney, a spokesperson for the NJTA,

The closure of the left northbound lane is needed because the contractor is building an interim traffic crossover the will shift northbound traffic onto the new southbound bridge. The work involves grading, paving and drainage, he said.
