Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met Paddy the cat…

Here is some information on Paddy from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Meet Paddy...he's as good looking as he is friendly and affectionate! Paddy is a black and white large domestic long haired cat. He is estimated to be between 3-5 years old.
Originally Paddy was part of a group of cats that was spayed and neutered by a local animal welfare group.

Most of the time this technique is done with cats that are socialized and cannot be re-homed. They most likely could not find a home, rescue or shelter willing to take him in at the time and had no choice but to re-release him. Paddy somehow made his way to a neighboring town and found a home he liked and kept trying to get inside.

These kind folks kept him well fed and gave him some attention he craved but were not in the position to take him in. However, they wanted to do the responsible thing by getting him altered and vaccines. They reached out to the HSOC for help. Further examination by HSOC staff proved he was already fixed and micro-chipped which led back to the animal welfare group. We asked for permission to keep him and find him a forever home. So now Paddy is updated on vaccines and ready for a new home.

Paddy is playful and super friendly. He seems as though he would be good with most situations. He is good with kids and other cats. Dogs are unknown but would probably be okay with time. Come visit Paddy!"
