Overwhelming Response to Lite Rock’s Restore the Shore Food Drive

We made the appeal to stuff the truck with food and relief items, and Lite Rock listeners responded in amazing fashion in the first week of Lite Rock's Restore the Shore... Holiday Food Drive. In just two hours this past Saturday, our listeners showed their compassion for their neighbors impacted by Hurricane Sandy by over stuffing the truck! After a long and emotionally draining week, the generosity I witnessed Saturday was truly moving! Thanks to all who helped in Lite Rock's efforts to Restore the Shore!

Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG’s Holiday Food Drive has gotten a slight adjustment in its focus when South Jersey was slammed by Hurricane Sandy! So, we’ve expanded our annual collection of non-perishable foods and frozen turkeys for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey Southern Branch to include items flood victims need the most.

Flood victims need cleaning supplies. Liquid dish detergent, liquid laundry detergents and disinfectants. Include household sponges and large buckets with seal-able lids. Do not include buckets formerly used for storing chemicals. Flood victims need work gloves and heavy duty trash bags.soap, gloves, sheets, receiving blankets, plastic sheeting and plastic bags to help keep birthing areas and newborn babies clean. Flood relief victims with new babies also need diapers, baby clothes, bottles, formula and clean water. Please keep these items in mind as well as non-perishable foods and frozen turkeys.
