Once Mighty Toys ‘R’ Us Making a Smaller Comeback, But With Less Toys
It's official, a smaller, scaled-down version of the once-mighty toy giant is making a big comeback with a little help from an iconic retail brand.
The cherished toy company will once again reopen with a little help from Macy's both online and in stores according to USA Today. You'll now be able to shop for your favorite toys inside more than 400 Macy's department stores all over the U.S. starting in 2022. Macy's is already featuring the Toys 'R' Us brand on their website.
Beloved Toys 'R' Us mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe is also back. The smaller versions of the iconic toy store will be built inside Macy's department stores and Geoffrey will play a big part in welcoming shoppers back to Toys 'R' Us.
Nata Dvir, Macy's chief merchandising officer tells USA Today,
“As a Toys“R”Us kid, I could not be more excited to bring this beloved brand that so many of our customers know and love into Macy’s online and to our stores across America,” “Our toy business grew exponentially in the past year, with many families looking to inspire their children’s imagination and create meaningful moments together."
No word yet on what Macy locations will feature the new Toys 'R' Us stores. There are currently 24 Macy Stores in the Garden State. South Jersey locations include Mays Landing, Deptford, Cherry Hill, and Maple Shade.
I'm so glad to hear that Toys R Us is getting another chance. I have many wonderful memories of shopping there for my boys around the holidays. It was always fun to "test out" the latest and greatest toys and games.
