Police in Northfield are advising you to keep a close eye on your bank balances and to report any suspicious charges or withdrawals. The warning comes after at least five Northfield residents became victims of crooks who tapped in to their bank accounts and stole as much as $1480.

According to the Press of Atlantic City,  the victims, all customers of TD Bank's Northfield branch, had money withdrawn from their accounts without their knowledge Friday or Saturday from locations in New York State.

A Northfield Police spokesperson said the money was taken using bogus bank cards apparently made with real account numbers, by thieves who had somehow obtained the customers PIN numbers.

While an investigation continues as to how the thieves pulled off this crime, police are advising you to keep close track of your bank balances and report any suspicious transactions to the bank and police.
