This is certainly NOT a list we're proud to make.

A new study published by the Social Science Research Network sought to figure out which states in the United States were home to the most psychopaths. A 2013 survey collected data using personality surveys. The results were determined using the degree of psychopathic personality traits found in people living in each state, like agreeableness, extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism, reports Men's Health.

So where did the good old Garden State rank? FOURTH.

Yep, we're the state with the fourth highest concentration of psychopaths. Pennsylvania is slightly more sane, coming in at #28.

If you were wondering which state is home to the most psychopaths, that would be Washington, D.C., which was included in the study. Coincidence?

Connecticut landed at #2, and California, home to the recently detained Golden State Killer, came in at #3.

While there is no concrete definition of 'psychopath', it is often described as 'a person lacking of remorse or empathy for others', according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
