WalletHub.com is known for its statistics and studies. Today, the site published their findings on which states are the best for women. To create their ranking, they looked at things like median earnings for women that was adjusted for cost of living, percentage of women in poverty, high school graduation rates, life expectancy, voting habits, and more.

According to the article, "In order to determine how women are faring and where they can find the best opportunities relative to where they live, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 24 key indicators of living standards for women." So how did New Jersey fair?

New Jersey ended up at #17 overall, with a total score of 64.24 out of 100. In the breakdown, the state ended up at 23rd in overall economic and social well-being. For health and safety, New Jersey ranked 6th.

When looking at the 24 indicators that WalletHub looked into, New Jersey did not rank in the top 5 or bottom 5 in any of these.

The best state, according to the study, for women is Massachusetts. The state scored 75.66 points out of a possible 100 and was #1 in health and well-being. Massachusetts has the lowest uninsured rate in the country for women and the second-lowest female homicide rate.

The worst state, according to the study, for women is Louisiana. The state scored 36.26 points out of a possible 100 and came in 51st in overall economic and social well-being. Louisiana has the second-highest unemployment rate for women, the second-highest percentage of women in poverty, tied for 46th in lowest life expectancy for women, and tied with 5 other states for the highest female homicide rate.
