Cape May County officials will be getting together today to discuss new preliminary base flood maps from the Federal Emergency Management Administration.

As many as 300 homes in Upper Township could be removed from the V Zone when the new maps are released. According to Mayor Rich Plaumo this could be good news for residents  in  Strathmere, Beesleys Point and along the Tuckahoe River. This will prevent large increases when it comes to flood insurance for homeowners.   The V or velocity zone is at the biggest risk from floods and waves.
