More Famous Grads From Other Atlantic City Area High Schools
We've recently published our stories about most famous alumni from high schools in Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Now, we bring you some other famous grads from other "Atlantic City Area High Schools."
This year's lists don't cover as many schools as last time, but we've got some highlights for you.
Before we delve into "famous", let's touch on how we base our selections.
Merriam-Webster defines famous as: "well known" and "honored for achievement."
For these purposes, we're going to focus mainly on the "well known" part, and we're going to define it as "nationally or worldly famous" rather than "locally famous." For example, someone might be very well known to the people of South Jersey, but beyond our state, that person must be a relative unknown.
This, of course, gives a distinct advantage to professional athletes who have reached the "major leagues" in their sport, actors, and musicians who have gained some sense of major accomplishment.
In no way is this to be assumed to be the "most successful" of graduates, as we all define success in different ways, and fame doesn't always play a part.
We certainly welcome your comments and suggestions!
Here we go:
SOUTHERN OCEAN COUNTY:
Southern Regional High School. NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr. the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series Champ has been driving in the headlines for almost 15 years.
While this was an east selection, Southern Regional High School has been cranking out some great athletes for years. Several football players from the school have made it to the NFL - probably more than any other local high school.
Pinelands Regional High School. Actor Gaten Matarazzo. The recent 2020 graduate is most notable for his work on the Netflix series, "Stranger Things." He began his career on the Broadway stage.
Millville Senior High School. Major League Baseball's Mike Trout. The Los Angeles Angels star is destined for Baseball's Hall of Fame as one of baseball's greatest players ever.
