Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met Molly the dog

Here is some information on Molly from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

Molly is a female Basset Hound/German Shepherd mix who is about 4 years young! Confident and outgoing, Molly loves everyone as much as she loves exploring! Molly is a happy and playful girl, with plenty of energy to spend romping in the yard or exploring the neighborhood with you. Fetch, tug, and belly rubs are her favorites.

She walks well on a leash and is a chubby-snuggle-buggy! Molly is fairly intelligent and learns well. Being a Bassett, she can be a bit stubborn at times but very friendly, and her GSD side makes her loyal and attentive. Molly is a sturdy girl, inside and out as she is built like a Bassett but painted like a Shepherd. Not much seems to bother Molly! Molly is looking for a home with an active family, though kids should be 12-13 or older as Molly’s play can be a bit rough. A fenced yard is preferred, as Molly likes to explore and “follow her nose”!

Molly should be good with other dogs, though meet and greet is required and by appointment only. Unknown how she’ll be with cats, though her personality and breed-sakes indicate she would likely be fine. Familiarity with one or both breeds is a plus. If you may be the forever home Molly is looking for, call or stop into the HSOC today and ask about her!"

If you would like to visit Molly or need more information about any animal up for adoption at The Humane Society of Ocean City, call 609-398-9500 or stop in any day between 11a-3p.

To adopt from the HSOC you will need one form of identification, which includes your name, permanent address and proof of ownership (i.e., local tax stub). If you rent, written approval from your landlord is required as well as personal identification. The adoption fee is $50.00 for cats or kittens and $85 for dogs, adults and puppies.

They accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards. Checks are accepted upon management’s approval. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip if requested, free first vet exam, and all necessary vaccinations through the first year. Adoption applications are available at the shelter.
