Before the game, the team got a special message from their most famous alum, Mike Trout.

Trout, who played for the Millville basketball team, told the team to "break this beautiful new gym in right, with a W".

He went on to wish all the Thunderbolts winter teams success in their winter seasons.

The video message was played inside the brand new gym before the start of the game.

Trout, a 2009 graduate of Millville, is a nine-time MLB All-Star, three-time American League Most Valuable Player. During his time at Millville, he played on the basketball team and his senior season, he averaged 14.7 points per game, 10th best in the Cape-Atlantic League. He was also the leagues third leading rebounder that season, grabbing 11 boards per game for the 18-8 Thunderbolts.

Jaden Merrill will forever be known as the player who scored the first basket in the new home.
