An ugly incident that happened on the beach in Wildwood Crest last Saturday is making news.

Police say Gregory Bostard, 52, of Cape May Court House, grabbed a child around the throat and began to choke the victim's airway.

In a post on Facebook, Wildwood Crest Police say they were called to the beach at Toledo Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 11th, to respond to a call that a man was assaulting a child.

When police approached Bostard, he became uncooperative and attempted to leave the scene. When police told Mr. Bostard that he was under arrest, he refused to comply and began to struggle with the police.

Bostard was eventually taken into custody. During the struggle, one of the police officers sustained minor injuries.

The child was evaluated on the beach for injuries by Wildwood Crest Rescue.

Gregory Bostard was charged with obstruction of justice, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a Juvenile, and endangering the welfare of a child.
