Ellidge/Express/Getty Images[/caption]I'm sure a lot of girls (including me!) were very upset on this day forty-one years ago.  That was the day "The Partridge Family" TV show ended.  It was a show about a widowed mom and her five kids who formed a band and made a hit record, then traveled around the country in a colorful school bus.  Sounds a little far-fetched?  Not really.  Here's why...

"The Partridge Family" was actually loosely based on the real-life musical family The Cowsills.  The Cowsill kids were even considered to star in the show, but they were not trained actors and were too old for the roles they would have to play.  And would it have been as popular?  Probably not.  And what made the show so popular?  Two words : David Cassidy!  He played Keith Partridge, and every week he melted girls' hearts everywhere.  The show also featured Shirley Jones as Momma Partridge, Susan Dey as Laurie Partridge, and Danny Bonaduce as (you guessed it!) Danny Partridge.

The show ran for three and a half years on Friday nights on ABC.  For its final season, it was moved to Saturdays nights opposite "All in the Family".  Apparently that was not a good move for "The Partridge Family", which was then cancelled.  But the show had a decent run...with 96 episodes and eight Partridge Family albums.  So...come on, get happy!  :)
