hero30/thinkstock[/caption]"Amy" looks at the life of the late British singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse through archives as well as personal accounts from her closest friends/family.  The footage is often candid and the performances are raw and emotional.  "Amy" explores a side of Winehouse that the public never got to see.

While most of us know the story of Amy Winehouse's tragic death at the age of 27, many of us only know her story through the barrage of media reports surrounding the downhill spiral leading to her death.  The movie showcases her incredible talent and her desire to perform and stay true to her roots.  She didn't crave fame and fortune.  In fact, she was often very uncomfortable with it.  Addiction was her biggest demon, but it wasn't her only one.  "Amy" shows us a side of Winehouse that only those close to her ever saw.  To the rest of us, she was yet another artist whose life ended way too soon.  The movie allows us to see Winehouse in a much different light, and it tells her story with honesty and compassion.  I definitely think it is worth seeing.  And one thing's for sure...her timeless music will live on.  Rest in peace, Amy.  :(
