Attention all astronomy lovers and stargazers, a rare hay moon will light up the skies over South Jersey tonight.

According to Fred Schaaf reporting of the Atlantic City Press, the hay moon of thunder moon only makes an appearance once a year. For 2016, the annual hay moon is the only full moon that is almost precisely its average distance from us.

According to Space.com the full hay moon is also a sign for farmers to harvest, bale and stow hay for the upcoming winter.

The last two weeks of July is the perfect time to see Mars, Saturn, and of course Jupiter, which will be brightest of all three.
