Prom is a time that we'll never forget. It's a night where we dress like kings and queens of our high school with our childhood friends and make endless memories. But for one South Jersey teen of Voorhees, the dream of going to Prom was almost not a reality...until the community came to make her dreams come true.

After her mother became diagnosed with Breast Cancer, life kind of came to a halt for Makaila McNear. Finances were scarce, anxiety shot high, and the unknown of the future consumed her mind. But friends and family of the community worked together to help get Makaila's story heard once she finally opened up about what she was going through.

Local business owner Tiarra Louis-Jean decided to host a "Prom Giveaway" as a means of doing something good for the community. So after she heard of Makaila's story through a submission from Makaila's Aunt, Tiarra instantly knew this was a cause worth fighting for.

And with the great fight; Makaila was able to go to prom, make memories, and celebrate worry free as her mom is now in remission.
