In a special executive session, the Linwood Board of Education voted unanimously to start the process of firing music teacher Kim Peschi and barring her from ever working in the Linwood school district again, after she assaulted a student while at work.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, Peschi is facing a criminal assault charge from a February incident at Belhaven Middle School, when she allegedly kicked the chair out from under a 12-year-old student, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor, according to  Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.

The Board of Education voted on April 12 to file tenure charges for "conduct unbecoming" a teacher. Peschi now gets 15 days to respond, after which the board must vote in executive session on the filing.

Peschi has a more immediate problem. She will appear on a criminal assault charge in this case in Linwood Municipal Court on Wednesday, April 19.
