First Office of LGBTQ Services Is Coming To NJ
New Jersey is opening the first government office of its kind in Union County; the brand new Office of LGBTQ Services.
The office will ,"serve as a center for advocacy, awareness and action on current and emerging issues that impact the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals," according to NJ.com.
Topics that plan on being addressing will include housing, education, health, public safety, and community engagement.
The LGBTQ office was created through Freehold Chairman Sergio Granados' 2018 Moving Union County Forward initiative and will be run by Danni Newbury who currently services the county's Office of Public Information.
There will also be an online list of federal and state legislative decisions on LGBTQ issues available for the public.
The Office of LGBTQ is planning for a round table this upcoming February to begin planning programs and services. In June, the office will take part in the LGBTQ Pride flag raising ceremony.
