We are here to wish a sweet passing to Storm, the recently retired K-9 dog from the Machester, Ocean County police force who died shortly after his retirement from the department became official earlier this week.

The Manchester Police Department created a special “radio sign-off” farewell video to commemorate Storm's outstanding career of service to the force. You can see it in this article, below.

If you haven't seen the video, prepare to get a little emotional as you watch the moving tribute to the dog, complete with "dog to English subtitles".

Although Storm officially retired on November 1, he has been unofficially in retirement at the home of his handler, Officer Marc Micciulla, since January of 2021 with canine health issues.

By all accounts, K-9 Storm has an amazing law enforcement career, which continued even after he lost his left eye to cancer in 2020.

Here is a recap of Storm's service to the community, as told by the Manchester Police Department.

Serving since 2015, K-9 Storm has played a critical role in police patrol operations, by tracking and locating missing persons, suspects and evidence, as well as narcotics detection. During his tenure, K-9 Storm responded to 70 Officer Protection Calls, performed 23 building searches, 45 tracks, 25 search warrants, and 180 narcotic sniffs/searches. He assisted with the seizure of narcotics with a street value of $250,000, $90,000 in cash, 46 vehicles, and two firearms. K-9 Storm continued to serve his community, even after he underwent surgery to remove his left eye due to a cancer diagnosis in 2020.

Last week, K-9 Storm, joined by his partner, Ptl. Marc Micciulla was presented with a Proclamation in recognition of his retirement.

Watch the attached post to see the video of K-9 Storm saying his last goodbye before officially retiring and join me in offering condolences to Ptl. Marc Micciulla and the Manchester Police on the passing of a fine K-9 officer and a great dog.

We are fortunate that we were able to capture his last radio transmission on video (with special dog translation technology).
