JC Penney will now follow in the footsteps of Macy’s and Sears when it comes to closing some of its stores. 

According to the USA Today, the retail giant has just announced it will close between 13 and 14% of its stores. Also new for 2017 will be a new goods and services department.

Close to 6,000 workers will be offered a  a voluntary early retirement program.

A list of stores that will be closed will be released in mid-March. JCPenney has 1,014 stores nationwide and 15 locations in the Garden State including Mays Landing, Rio Grande, Cherry Hill and Deptford.
