PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM THE BRIGANTINE POLAR BEAR PLUNGE COMMITTEE

The following release was posted Wednesday regarding the 2021 Polar Bear Plunge.
We all knew it was coming… the 2021 Brigantine Polar Bear Plunge, scheduled for January 1st is being “Postponed” and “Rescheduled” for a another time this year. Plunge organizer Tricia Cosgrove said “We know this is a huge disappointment – for our plungers, sponsors, Fisher House, our Veterans and the community.
But, the health and safety of all is absolutely the most important thing to us. With the ongoing concerns regarding mass gatherings amid the COVID-19 pandemic and out of an abundance of caution, we in conjunction with the City of Brigantine sincerely regret this announcement for postponement.”
The Laguna Rum Bar will be closed and there will be no ceremony or after-plunge party on January 1st, since any social gatherings would be well beyond Governor Murphy’s executive order capping outdoor gatherings at 25 people.
Cosgrove added, “We will continue to be selling the Bear Wear at Plunge HQ, 3100 Brigantine Avenue, this Saturday and Sunday 10-2 and Wednesday 5-7. The Bear Wear will continue to be on sale through Sunday, January 10th, 2021. This will not stop our fundraising efforts to support Fisher House.
And we hope you will be there with “bells on” when we reschedule as soon as we can in 2021.”
Fisher House’s Chief of Staff, Mary Considine, wants to “Thank the whole Brigantine community for all that you do to support veterans and their families. For me, it’s a highlight of my year to spend New Year’s Day with my favorite Plungers. You all work so hard each year, and it is so appreciated by all of us at Fisher House Foundation.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, good luck and be well until we meet again!”
We encourage Plungers via FACEBOOK to post their own personal impromptu celebration of 2021 on New Year’s Day, bidding a final farewell to 2020!
Looking forward to seeing you sometime soon in 2021 when we announce the Official Brigantine Polar Bear Ceremony and after-party! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
