There's some good news in the world of retail business. Retailers are planning more store openings than closing in 2021.

According to CNBC, retailers will open 3,199 new stores for the year and 2,548 store closures are scheduled. Look for an expansion in the coming year from Ulta Beauty, Sephora, Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Five Below.

Dollar General is also looking to expand in the Graden State according to the Press of Atlantic City. The new Dollar General will be located at North West Boulevard and Weymouth Road in Gloucester County. The plans for the new store was unanimously approved at a recent public hearing

The second proposed new Dollar general location would be at the corner of East Wheat and North Main Roads location. The board hearing on the second location was postponed and rescheduled for sometime in May.

The discount retailer currently has 13 New Jersey locations including  Absecon, Millville, Burlington, Clementon, and Cape May Cout House in South Jersey.

Pep Boys joins the growing list of retailers with stores closing in 2021. The iconic auto chain has been in business for 100 years. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that two South Jersey Pep Boys locations in Audubon and Stratford will be closing their doors. Both are located in Camden County.

The company is in the process of selling 120 of the 500 stores owned by billionaire Carl Ichan.  There are 48 Pep Boys locations in New Jersey. South Jersey locations include Absecon, Egg Harbor Township, Glassboro, Turnersville, Cinnaminson, Vineland, Cherry Hill, Blackwood, and Berlin.
