Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MOCA[/caption]Madonna and Belinda Carlisle were born just one day apart in the same year (1958).  The two singers took slightly different paths in their musical careers, but they do have a few things in common.  Here's my unofficial list of a few of those things...

Madonna and Belinda are both authors.  Madonna wrote five children's books. The first of these books, "The English Roses", was published in September 2003.  The book debuted at the top of The New York Times Best Seller list and became the fastest-selling children's picture book of all time.  Belinda Carlisle's autobiography, "Lips Unsealed", published in June 2010, was also a New York Times Best Seller.  Nice job, ladies!

Both Madonna and Belinda were cheerleaders in high school.  Rah-rah!!  And both were drummers.  During the '70's, Madonna played drums in the band "The Breakfast Club" until switching to lead vocals.  Belinda was a drummer (briefly) for the punk band "Germs", under the name Dottie Danger.  Who knew??

Both ladies have appeared on the big screen.  In 1984, Belinda was in the movie "Swing Shift" starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.  Madonna's most notable role was in the film "Evita" in 1996.  She even won a Golden Globe for Best Actress.

So, Happy (Almost) B-day  to the Material Girl and the former Go-Go's Girl, who will both be turning 57.  Don't worry, ladies.  I hear 57 is the new 47.  :)
