In a new release about the girl's death, Lower Township Police say that detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lower Township Police Department responded to the scene and immediately initiated an investigation into this child’s death.
Early Sunday morning, the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the girl and the cause and manner of death are pending the final autopsy report.
Police said there were no signs of foul play as of Sunday afternoon, and that the incident appears to be an accident.
