John Gowdy, the renowned South Jersey sand sculptor, has created a tribute to health care workers in the time of coronavirus in his Galloway backyard.

According to Philly.com, Gowdy has been 'overwhelmed" by messages of thanks and support from healthcare workers and grieving families who have seen the tribute.


John, who is a retired captain from the Atlantic City Fire Department has done many memorable sculptures over the past 25-30 years. I remember a stunning tribute to the heroes and the fallen of 9/11 John did on the beach in Atlantic City on the anniversary of September 11th.

His website, The Art of John Gowdy, lists some of the many places he has made sand sculptors: weddings, conventions, state fairs, private parties, hotel lobbies and on beaches around the world.

Now, while he and his wife have been isolating, John has crated this tribute to the healthcare profession in the backyard of his Galloway home.
