In 1983, Michael Jackson's Thriller album had taken over, finally hitting #1 on the album charts where it would spend 37 weeks, eventually becoming the biggest selling album of all time! Michael Jackson also debuted his infamous moonwalk dance in 1983, during the Motown 25 Special.

1983 was also the year that CDs were first introduced to the United States!

And the members of Kiss shocked fans when they showed their faces without makeup for the first time on MTV as they released their album Lick it Up.
