Peggy Darlene Yard passed away peacefully on September 20th after an extended fight against Stage 4 lung cancer. I was lucky enough to meet Peggy once. She welcomed me into her home and gave me a tour of the Yard Family Christmas interior display. She was lovely.

Exhausted from grief, her grandson, Mike, who I keep in close contact with, was struggling to find it inside himself to host another Yard Family Christmas. In time, he was ready to spread some Christmas cheer to the community.

He rolled his 40-ft. trailer up to the house, located at 4 E. Curran Ave. in Absecon, and within a day put up as many lights and decorations as he could. And, it remains DAZZLING.

This year, there's a giant, glowing outline of a Mickey Mouse head, that Mike made himself. It's quite a piece of work!

And, Yard Family Christmas Display has a new mascot: Debi the Chicken! Debi was the lone survivor after a fox attacked the hen house behind the Yard home. She's so friendly, and even let me hold her.

There's also the addition of a 'Letters to Santa' mailbox, and the Yards are collecting them to pass along to The Big Man in Red. If you'd like to send a letter to Santa, mail it to Yard Family Christmas, 4 E. Curran Ave., Absecon, NJ 08201.

Monetary donations are also being accepted, and will benefit The Weeks Family after dad Kevin was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer (view the GoFundMe page here).
