I'm planning to get a flu shot this fall and see a doctor with Shore Physicians Group, so I was pleased to see they are offering drive-through clinics to make the process faster and easier.

The Centers for Disease Control recommend getting a flu shot in September or October each year to protect yourself for the entire season. It's especially important for those who are 65 and older, pregnant, or have asthma, heart disease, diabetes or cancer. Your physician can help you determine if it's right for you and your family or if there are any special considerations, but Shore Physicians Group is offering three convenient clinics at the Surgical Division Parking Lot at 649 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ 08244:

  • 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 11
  • 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 25
  • 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 9

No appointment is required for the walk-up clinic, but you must make an appointment for each person receiving a shot in your vehicle. You can schedule an appointment online at ShorePhysiciansGroup.com or by calling 609-635-6200. The CDC do recommend the flu shot for those 6 months and older, but these clinics are just for those 18 or older.

It's hard to predict when the flu will hit our area or how severe it will be, so do yourself and your family a favor and make plans early to get flu shots. I know I will!
