New Year's Eve is one of the biggest dining out nights of the entire year. So, it's only natural you might want to spring for something like lobster. But you may want to rethink that splurge, especially is you're superstitious.

International Business Times says eating lobster, and even chicken, on New Year's is bad luck!

Here's why: Many ancient proverbs point out that lobsters can move backward and chickens can scratch in reverse, so it's thought consuming them could bring a reversal of fortune. And who needs THAT?!

For good luck eat foods like black eyed peas, ham, and cabbage, all thought to bring  prosperity.
