East Coast Roofing, Siding and Windows is putting a roof over the head of some of those in need in South Jersey again-literally. This week marks the conclusion of the third "East Coast Community Makeover" promotion to award free roofs to those in need during the holidays.  The Mays Landing based company has been accepting... nominations about deserving people who can't afford to fix the roof on their house.  The roof giveaway started when company president Larry Stiteler saw many local people struggling in a tight economy who just couldn't afford something they really need.  So for the last three years, with materials donated by Universal Supply, East Coast Roofing has been choosing two such families and putting a new roof on their house the week before Christmas.

This year's winners are the Lewis Family from Northfield and Don Shaffor of Egg Harbor Township.

Beth Lewis and her two teenage children lost their husband and father Dave to cancer in 2009.  Dave Lewis was a very-well known teacher, coach and mentor.  In his honor, the family has created "Dave's Day", a successful annual fund-raiser which benefits the Central United Methodist Church and the Northfield Education Foundation.

Don Shaffor also lost his spouse at the young age of 52.  His nomination points to his selfless approach to life, where the needs of family and friends always come before his own.  Don is an Army National Reserve vet who volunteers with Wild Life Aid, and is an avid blood donor.

Thanks to a very generous promotion from a South Jersey company that truly understand the spirit of Christmas, this week both families will receive new roofs.
