Firefighters rescued a dog from a burning house early Thursday morning in West Wildwood.

Help arrived at 12:34 AM to the home on the 600 block of West Maple Ave. Two residents had already escaped the fire and were not injured nor did they need to go to hospital following the incident.

The roof ended up collapsing so the residents are now homeless but have been staying with friends and family.

The fire took approximately 70 firefighters and two and a half hours to put out. The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated.
