According to CNN, booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine will be available starting on September 20th. The date of your second shot will determine when you would be eligible for the booster vaccine. You will be able to get more protection for COVID with a booster shot 8 months after your second dose.

Director Dr. Rochelle Walewnsky and FDA Acting Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodstock tell CNN,

"We are prepared to offer booster shots for all Americans beginning the week of September 20 and starting 8 months after an individual's second dose," "At that time, the individuals who were fully vaccinated earliest in the vaccination rollout, including many health care providers, nursing home residents, and other seniors, will likely be eligible for a booster.
