Cops in Gloucester County say an elderly man died after he was hit by a vehicle in a supermarket parking lot Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Monroe Township Police Department, the accident happened just before 3:00 at ShopRite on the Black Horse Pike in Williamstown.

There, an investigation revealed that a 62-year-old woman was backing her SUV out of a parking spot when she struck a 76-year-old man who was pushing a shopping cart.

Police say the impact caused the man to fall and he hit his head on the pavement/curb. He was taken to Cooper Trauma where he was pronounced dead around 5:30 that evening.

The identities of the driver and the victim were not released and police did not say if any charges are pending.
