Coast Guard Cape May Saves Loggerhead Turtle Caught in Trap
A 250-pound loggerhead turtle ensnared in the ropes of a crab trap in the Delaware Bay was rescued Friday by a response boat from the U.S. Coast Guard’s Cape May station. Watch video of the rescue.
The Cape May station from the Coast Guard released a video on their Facebook page showing crew members assisting a technician from Brigantine's Marine Mammal Stranding Center using disentanglement gear and a knife to free the large turtle, whose right rear flipper became trapped near the Miah Maull Shoal Lighthouse.
Well done by all!
