Clean Ocean Action’s Fall 2016 Beach Sweeps

Once again, Clean Ocean Action will help to keep our beaches clean on Saturday, October 22nd. Volunteers with gather at beaches across the Garden State with gloves and trash bags picking up litter on our beloved beaches.

According to Clean Ocean Action, more than 6,375 volunteers donated their time in 2015 to help remove debris from our beaches. Over 332,000 pieces of debris were removed at over 70 different location up and down the coast of the Garden State.

Some of the most popular items picked up from the last beach sweeps include: cigarette filters, caps and lids, plastic food, candy wrappers and bags; beverages and glass pieces.

Here are some tips from Clean Ocean Action: Dress for the weather, wear gloves, sunscreen and closed, hard-soled shoes and be careful of sharp objects.
