Cape May Lewes-Ferry Rates Increasing in April

Your travel on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry is about to get more expensive. The Delaware River and Bay Authority, the organization in charge of the ferry, announced a fare increase this week set to go in to effect April 1.

In-season vehicle rates will be increasing by $1,  but some travelers will get a break under a new fare structure.

Here's the breakdown of the fare adjustments: 

• Fares for all vehicle classes increase by $1 in-season (April through October). There's no increase in the return trip value fare. In-season rates for a standard vehicle plus a driver currently range from $39 to $47 for peak summer weekend and holiday travel.
• A fare category will be created for three-wheel motorcycles or motorcycles with trailers.
• First responders with ID will receive a "Blue and Red" $2 discount off the adult passenger rate of $10. This discount will be on a trial basis, according to the DRBA. Military members were already receiving the $2 discount.
• Children ages 6 to 13 will travel free during the offseason (November through March). The current offseason rate for kids is $4.
