The Cape May-Lewes Ferry will be celebtaring a golden anniversary this summer. 

The ferry will be celebrating 50 years of service with a birthday bash on June 28th.  The ferry started operations in the summer of 1964.

The  Delaware River & Bay Authority, which operates the ferry is planning a party at the North Cape May terminal on June 28th and at the the Lewes, Del, terminal on June 29th.

Both parties will feature live entertainment, a 1960s classic car show, carnival games, fun activities for the kids and more. Fireworks will light up the sky on the Delaware bay on June 29th.

Estimates have the ferry transporting at least 43 million passengers and 14 million vehicles since the summer of 1964.
